To BNA

That's airport code for Nashville TN where Sarah and I will go tomorrow to visit Vanderbilt University. I've know many people that have gone there and all have been pleased with the experience. I think it will be very suitable for her, so we'll see for ourselves. The tour is at 10 am on Saturday.

Friday night we'll be picked up by Susan's friend Beth who is our hostess for the weekend. She's already set us up to see Lady Antebellum at a private show - what a deal! Susan said "No fair" But she's in Las Vegas taking a helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon so its a draw. We'll be back Sunday.

Seeing a trend

Another day of needing a bit extra sleep. Must be the golf? Fresh Air? Day Off? Whatever it is, the idea of getting up at 0645 to go for a bike ride ended with the second time of getting back into bed and another hour of sleep.

I saw the movie Win Win last night. Another movie by Paul Giamatti playing a middle aged loser (Sideways). Judging by the previews, the middle age loser movie is coming on strong, with Everything Must Go starring Will Ferrell and The Beaver starring Mel Gibson coming soon. I'd give Win Win * * 1/2

Yesterday was very windy on the golf course. It made it hard to keep the ball in play. But it was a nice day and nice to be out and be included. There was a seafood lunch afterwards that was outstanding - I got second helpings. Susan went to the island early but got stuck in major traffic so I decided to go later. I did get to pick up my new suit and pants so it was good to get that done during some free time that opened up. I bought some new shorts for the summer since my old ones seem too big these days.

Easter coming up

Tomorrow is Good Friday so it is a holiday locally. Although instead of church, I've been invited to a golf tournament. I've played golf on this Friday before so I guess it's not a bad thing. This week has gone fast as a result.

This weekend we are planning to go to South Padre Island. It'll be a nice time. Maybe I'll go to the Episcopal Church in Port Isabel. It's been tough to wake up early lately. Maybe its the triathlon training.

One more week of the city. I got an email today on this exit checklist so I have to visit many different departments. Hopefully they'll have a check for me at the end of the mice's maze :)

Return to Private Practice

I am looking forward to my return to full time private law practice. I believe that it is the right path for me and am certainly glad to make the move back. I think that a strong suit of mine is client development, which is a weakness for most attorneys. So I'm confident that the best is yet to come. We were talking at dinner tonight and I said that no one that was young believed that Social Security was going to be around when we were of age. So make the most of things now. No reason to wait for "the government" to help.

Sunday

Must be something about running and then playing golf in the same day. More tiring than you think. I went to bed maybe at 0100last night (we saw a late movei- Hanna- with the Alvarez Family)and slept until 1030 this morning. It had the benefit of me being at home most all day, so I got some good cleaning and housework done. In the afternoon, after watching some of the Masters, I went for a bike ride. I thought it was starting at 4:30 but it was 4:00 so I ended up riding by myself. It was a tough one with lots of wind, but I made it through and then headed home. We had a nice dinner, watched Amazing Race - our ususual Sunday night.

Great day

I got up early today to run the Good Samaritan 5K. There were a lot of people from church there so that was fun. A lot of people said "Remember me?" I ran into Tina who is our friend Rene's sister in law. Also I saw Tony who ran the Austin Marathon as "Greg". Also his wife Melissa who I had me (she reminded me we had met when she was married to someone else !) And their friend Rose. Running the race, I spotted two of the kids that were running. A boy and a girl, neck and neck. Then the boy stopped to walk. So I thought I would run with the girl to make sure she finished and won. Ania G. did great, and finished strong, winning the U-13 girls, first place. Afterwards she and her mom thanked me for helping which was really nice. It was great to see her smiling up on the podium getting her medal. I came in 3rd in the mens' 40-49 (Tony was first). We all then went for breakfast. I received a call that there was a golf game at noon. I happened to have my clubs and clothes in the car, so I didn't have to go home and hit the links with the gang of Larry, Barry and Kyle. We had a good time and I shot 89 so it was a fine day. We ended going to dinner at a new place Cappellini's which has relocated from Reynosa, Mexico. Then I went with Sarah, Nicole, Oscar, his mom, dad, 2 brother and 1 girlfriend to see Hanna, which I liked. Great day!

Right where I need to be

At home now, 10:40 p.m watchin the news. Having a snack, thinking about going to bed after watching a little TV and blogging :) There was a game watch party for the Vipers at Peppers that I decided to go by about 9:00 p.m. However, I went in, it was a bar scene, I didn't know anyone, and slipped off to the bathroom and left. Just not a place for me. I'll be better at home tomorrow morning 0800 for the 5K fun run benefitting the Good Samaritan Center in Pharr. Funny how things work out.

Getting There

Friday is upon us and Sarah's friend Nicole is coming to visit. Sarah of course has a busy weekend, so Nicole will tag along, and I think they'll be happy to be together.

Susan and I are meeting with our CPA tomorrow. That should be a productive meeting.

Work is clicking along. I'm happy to be reporting that I'll have a positive change with more time for the private practice. Interestingly there are clients that were generally unaware that I've been doing that. Makes me feel good that I've kept it going as long as I did. But still ready to get back in the saddle full time. I think as the song goes... Time for Me to Fly!

Back on Track

I've had some new energy lately after clearing out "mental space" by my job decision. It is a step in the right direction of stress reduction. I'm working on some personal bills as well. We worked on the tax return also. Today I did get some work cleared out even at the expense of some minor spikes. Its' hard to concentrate when there a lot of paper around. CAn't do two things at once and the visual power is hard to work around. So I got it cleared out. I did the same with my closet last night. Now the next frontier is my home office. Step by step. I had a minor swim injury in that my right arm got a little sore while swimming. So I'm resting it, went for a run today and going to a spin class tomorrow. As part of the stress reduction, I'm trying to be in bed by 11:00. So I'd better wind it down. 'Night!
